I HEART Apartment Therapy
Home. It is near and dear to my heart. It is my sanctuary, my refuge, my treasure trove of furnishings, memories, art and (most importantly) books.
Having just moved, I have the wonderful opportunity to start afresh. James and I kept only what we truly loved, gave away what we needed but hated ( beat up Ikea anyone?) and are relishing the process of building out our home with beautiful interesting pieces.
I get a huge leg up in this process from Apartment Therapy, the beloved and addictive site that helps us all cherish our small homes.
Apartment Therapy’s Maxwell Gillingham- Ryan’s wondrous tome of inspiration.
I frequent this site an embarrassing number of times per day. What can I say, it’s apartment porn, cheerleader, and DIY heaven all in one.
Wallowing about in the post- holiday slump and overwhelmed by the number of projects I faced to transform bare bones to cosy warmth- I turned to AT.
Lo and Behold, they knew I was coming and laid it all out for me:
The Apartment Therapy January Cure!
Don’t you want your office nook to be this fabulous?
It’s a wonderful month long plan that takes its participants day by day, task by task, to “ a cleaner, fresher, more organized home.” Clean your floors in order to enjoy their true beauty-check! Make an “outbox” to decide the fate of built up clutter-check! Buy fresh flowers to enjoy all weekend- check!
I admit, I may have skipped a task or two- “decluttering your bookshelves”- ha! no need since we don’t have bookshelves yet! But overall, I check my inbox every morning with joyful glee, waiting to see what the next task for the day is. In case you’re thinking this whole process rates up there with bikini waxing and nose hair removal, I challenge you to try one of these tasks yourself. Start falling in love with your home all over again. And it’s much easier than moving, trust me.
Even though we are only halfway through the month, I invite you into my home-in -process. Send art!
Welcome!
Living and Sleeping (Theo demonstrates under the bed). My favorite new rug- a vintage Peruvian handwoven beauty found at Beach House Style for $85!
Midcentury comfort. Pics from the best Italy trip ever. Gorgeous throw pillows made by the talented design team of me, myself , and I.
Dining Room/Library with giant bare wall for bookcases to come! The spectacular antler was naturally shed by a big ass elk on my parent’s property in Colorado(otherwise known as Hopper Kingdom).
Lot’s of room for improvement here. I LOVE my fan coral shower curtain from CB2!
Kitchen. Feeding oneself should not be so hard, nor so messy…
And lastly, the one project this month I swear I’m doing to combat naked walls:
From Day 6 of the Cure: Wall Decor, Framing Scarves
Wish me luck!
